Target Heart Rate:
Target Heart Rate is defined as the minimum number of heartbeats in a given amount of time in order to reach the level of exertion necessary for cardiovascular fitness, specific to a person’s age, gender, or physical fitness. (University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, 2012 https://uihc.org/health-topics/target-heart-rate-exercise) Target Heart Rate is typically measured in beats per minute and is given a target range of 60% - 80% based upon your maximum safe heart rate.
